Bitcoin Mining Car Unveiled

By now you’re aware, the energy consumed to mine cryptocurrency is a global talking point. According to the Digiconomist’s Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index, a single Bitcoin transaction consumes 1,544 kWh, or the equivalent of around 53 days of electricity for the average US family.

Including Canada, North America dominates the global mining hashrate, with around half of the global supply.

In their continued effort to reduce the carbon footprint, Toronto based LEV (Light Electric Vehicle) maker, Daymak, has just unveiled their cryptocurrency mining car; a zero-emission daily driver that can be charged by the sun.

The Daymak Spiritus will be integrated with high-tech mining hardware and blockchain technologies, allowing it to mine various types of cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin and Doge – all while charging.

The vehicle will have a GPU (graphics processing unit) that will support the Daymak Nebula, a patent-pending technology. The Nebula is made up of two parts: a miner that harvests cryptocurrency and a digital wallet that stores the tokens. Spiritus owners will have access to the Nebula app to track their income, send, receive, or stake a variety of cryptocurrencies.

Daymak president Aldo Baiocchi notes, “And whereas most vehicles are depreciating while they sit in your garage, the Nebula Miner will make you money while your Spiritus is parked.”

With sleek lines and a sculpted rear, the three-wheeled Daymak Spiritus has a distinctively futuristic design. Their "Ultimate" model has an 80-kWh battery that produces up to 150 horsepower. According to Daymak, this allows the two-seater to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 1.8 seconds, reaching top speeds of over 130 mph. The company also totes that the auto can travel 300 miles on a single charge, requiring less than 2 hours of charge time.

The Spiritus “Ultimate” model will set you back about $150,000 USD, while Daymak’s more modest “Deluxe” model has a starting price of $22,995 USD.
